NVIDIA and xAI have partnered via a consortium supported by tech giant Microsoft, investment titans BlackRock and MGX to ramp up AI infrastructure in the U.S.The announcement comes as NVIDIA continues its ongoing GTC event and the globe continues its trajectory with AI.

The first goal is to amass US$30bn from multiple investors and companies and eventually, build to US$100bn to bolster the emergence of constructing data centres and power for Gen AI and other AI technologies.

"The global buildout of AI infrastructure will benefit every company and country that wants to achieve economic growth and unlock solutions to the world’s greatest challenges," explains Jensen Huang, NVIDIA's CEO.

xAI previously convened with NVIDIA to accelerate supercomputing abilities, which is a Musk venture, and both are still interested in promoting the necessary infrastructure to additionally sustain data centre growth. AI Infrastructure Partnership (AIP) was formed to address the increasing urgent power and digital infrastructure needs of extensive AI development.

The urgency to invent and deploy AI technologies has left the data centre industry to grapple with demand, stranded by exhaustion of usable capacity and challenges in sustainability due to the use of power, energy and water needed for AI computation. This does push the envelope on traditional or legacy infrastructures, resulting in heavy debates about constructing data centres for the AI movement.
