Google Maps Revamped ‘Saved’ Tab With Carousels for Easier Access to Locations

Google shared a blog post where they have stated that the company has redesigned the ‘Saved’ tab with carousels in place of tabs on top of the Google Maps mobile app.

This carousel display would include all the recently saved locations as per the user and will be followed by nearby saved, visited and also your lists.

As per google, this update has been rolled out from yesterday on 26th of August.  Google has stated that “ it would be easier for you to find and remember the places that matter most to you.”

According to Google, the saved tab has been redesigned for users to easily access their recently visited places, saved places, among others. Previously, the Saved tab was at the bottom highlighted labeled, lists, reservations, visited, following in the form of tabs which could be swipe through.

Furthermore, without having to enter every list, the saved carousel will allow users to also see freshly added locations faster than before. In a carousel that is sorted by distance, the Nearby saved section will show all the saved places close to users’ location.

However, this will only work if the permission is switched on for the Google Maps. Also, it will require location history to be enabled as well.

It will significantly help users to remember the places where they have been and also remember every route that they have taken to reach that particular place. This Saved tan will also show the lists of memorable or important locations as well.
